Are you a fan of any sport?
Yes as a qualified PE Teacher sport is a big part of my life. Also as a Welsh person I love Rugby Union but also follow Warrington Wolves & a bit of Rugby League in general. I support Everton & my home town team Wrexham as far as football is concerned but am not an avid football fan – too much rolling about in agony when they break a nail! Love watching Wimbledon & any big sporting event such as the Olympics. I volunteered at both the Manchester Commonwealth Games & London 2012.
Do you like to cook? and What’s your favourite Food & Drink?
Love to cook – I find it a great stress reliever. I like most foods except Mexican. I think my absolute favourites are French & Thai although the best food & drink I have ever had was in South Africa. I like most good wines both red & white but if I was pushed then a good Sauvignon Blanc ( probably a Malborough) & Argentinian Malbec would be my favourites. I am also very partial to all types of cider & vodka (the British vodka Chase being my favourite especially the Marmalade one).
More about you – Hobbies, Interests
Apart from my obvious interest in Sport & keeping fit, I am obsessed with foreign travel & have a never ending bucket list. I try to go somewhere different every school holiday & love to ski & play Golf when I get the chance. I like to visit places off the beaten track & don’t mind a certain amount of roughing it to get to see unusual sights. In the past I have trekked in the Karakoram Mountains in Pakistan to the base camp of K2 & climbed Kilimanjaro in Africa & Mount Kinibalu in Borneo. I have travelled to every Continent at some point but still have a big list of places to go especially when I retire & I am not restricted by school holiday times.
Any interesting facts about you?
Over the last 10 years I have involved my students in the World Challenge Programme where we raise all our own funds to go on a month long expedition to a Third world country to work on a community based project & explore the area. This has given many of my students a thirst for travel & an insight into how others live around the world. So far my expeditions have visited Mexico, Namibia, Ecuador & the Galapagos & this year we are going to Cambodia & Laos.
