If you wish to use your PC’s own media player, below are some suggestions to help solve your problem.
An incompatible program is probably set as your default player to grab any audio files. You will need to create a little Icon on your desktop and then get that Icon to play ONLY with Windows Media Player or Winamp. Here’s how to do it ;
- On the Radio Warrington website, right click on the Listen Live button of your choice (ie windows Media Player) > save target as > and then Save on your desktop. This will create a little shortcut icon on your desktop.
- Right click on that icon > open with > and select Windows Media Player.
You can also check the box that says “Always use the selected program to open this kind of file”
This should sort out the problem. Every time you click that desktop icon it will be forced to open up with Windows Media Player or Winamp
It might be that your computer is set with an internet Firewall which is set to block mp3 streams.
If you still can’t get Radio Warrington to play on your computer, get in touch via our contact page and we will get you going, even if we need to pop round to sort it.
Can I create a desktop icon so I just click on it everytime I want to hear Radio Warrington?
Yes, just carry out the instructions for the previous question
My desktop shortcut icon no longer works
From time to time Radio Warrington’s IP address gets changed. This will only affect listeners who have created desktop icons as described in the previous question. To rectify this, delete the icon and then re-create a new one as described in the previous question.
