Which show(s) do you host?
I host ‘Good Day Sunday’ with my husband Ben Thomson: an hour of music for the soul and good news from charities, communities and churches, 8am-9am, every Sunday morning.
What is your background?
My dad, Bob Roberts, was a bit of a radio legend and as a child I grew up watching him preparing his shows at home on his typewriter and selecting his music on vinyl records. It was always a treat going with him into the BBC studios to watch his shows go out. I began working at BBC Radio Lancashire as a production secretary when I was 19, which is where Ben and I met over 30 years ago. In those days interviews were recorded on a uher and reel to reel tape which had to be edited by using a chinagraph pencil, razor blade and splicing tape!
Why is music your passion?
Music has the power to be a force for good with great healing properties. Our eclectic Sunday morning mix includes modern Christian artists, classic feel good songs and uplifting music tracks which have positive messages.
Why Radio Warrington?
I started working in Warrington in 2018 as the manager of Warrington Business Improvement District (BID) and my husband and I fell in love with the town’s connectivity, community spirit and fantastic facilities. We jumped at the opportunity to move here in 2022 and our radio show is the chance to meet people together and share some light and hope in times where we all need more good news.
Tell us something interesting about you?
Our family are LEGO fans and my claim to fame is that in 2020 I commissioned champion LEGO designer, Steve Guinness to create an amazing model of Warrington’s Golden Gates as part of the Heritage Open Days initiative. If you go into Warrington Museum’s Time Tunnel you can find the LEGO Golden Gates still on display. What a legacy!
