Ian Warren

Which show(s) do you host?

I present the Seventies Show on Saturday afternoons from 2pm-4pm.

What is your background?

I was a mobile DJ from 1978 until 2008 working at many of Warrington’s pubs and clubs including Tracys, Gee Gees Bar and Peppermint Garden, none of which, sadly, exist these days. My first job was at the Cottage in Thelwall (now the Little Manor) using sound and lighting equipment bought from Kays catalogue – oh those were the days! When I finished with mobile DJ’ing I was asked in 2008 if I would like to present a Seventies Show on Radio Worm (Radio Warrington’s previous name) and I have been with the station ever since.

Why is music your passion?

I love the Seventies. In my opinion, it was the best decade for music and on a Saturday I get the chance to play some great songs from those 10 years. I now have a collection of over 4,000 songs to choose from so you won’t hear the same songs every week, like maybe, dare I say, on some other radio stations!

Why Radio Warrington?

That’s easy, nobody else would give me a job!

Tell us something interesting about you?

I was once an extra in Coronation Street.
