Which show(s) do you host?
I present Movers and Shakers on the 4th Saturday of the month from 10am to 12pm. I talk with people who are running independent businesses and community groups in Warrington about what gets them up in the mornings, what running their organisations is like on a day to day basis, what their plans and ambitions are and we also have a good chat about their music choices. I also co-present the Andy’s Man Club Takeover on the 1st Saturday of the month from 10am to 12pm.
What is your background?
I’ve been in business for more years than I care to mention, specialising in payroll and accountancy. I’ve run small businesses myself so I’m really passionate about supporting and giving a voice to people who are doing the same. I got involved with Radio Warrington as a result of doing the Andy’s Man Club takeover a few times, and realised I enjoyed getting on the microphone and chatting to like minded people
Why is music your passion?
I’m a Manchester lad with Scouse parents so music has always been front and centre in my life. I’ve always fancied myself as a musician but I think I’ve finally realised that listening is easier than playing, though I still have an ambition to do my piano grades after taking up lessons at the age of 50!
Why Radio Warrington?
I moved to Warrington in 2000 so I think I’m not far off being accepted as a local. The town has a real buzz about it and has changed massively in the 26 years I’ve lived here, pretty much all for the better. It’s a great place to do business and there is a real work hard, play hard culture that’s hard to beat. Despite being a large town of over 200,000 people, there’s a real community feel and people seem to be happy to do things for the greater good. That’s what Radio Warrington is all about and it lives up to its “from the town, for the town” slogan.
Tell us something interesting about you?
I once closed Liverpool Airport for half an hour! I was learning to fly at one of the flying schools based at the airport when I had an engine failure at about 600 feet as we climbed out over the Mersey. My instructor managed to get us back on the runway, facing in the wrong direction and looking right at an Easyjet A320 that was waiting to take off. The phone call home to let my other half know that I was going to be late was fun!
