Mike Massey

Which show(s) do you host?

I present WAM Exposure on Thursday nights between 6pm and 8pm where Lee Harman and I present 2 hours of exclusively local unsigned music from Warrington and the surrounding areas.

What is your background?

I got into presenting at the end of 2018. Music has always been a huge passion of mine and local unsigned talent is of particular interest. Anyone you have ever listened to had to start off somewhere so to be able to give up my time to help anyone get any kind of exposure or airplay is really rewarding and something I wanted to contribute to so I contacted Radio Warrington after moving to the area from Manchester and shortly after that the show was born.

Why is music your passion?

Music, whether consciously or, not plays a huge part in everyone’s life. Every memory you have I bet you can link or relate a song to and music can really help people on many levels. I cannot play instruments very well (not for want of trying, I really wish I could) so I figured the best way I can contribute to local music is to give it the opportunity to be heard as far a field as possible. Although the station airs throughout Warrington we issue a podcast of all our shows that have been downloaded across the globe including America, Chile, Spain, Canada, Cyprus even Mexico and Switzerland! Knowing you have played a part in spreading the word about the amazing talent Warrington has on it’s doorstep is an amazing feeling.

Why Radio Warrington?

Radio Warrington does a huge amount for the community and local radio is more important than ever at the moment. The station is extremely welcoming and accommodating for anyone who wishes to get involved no matter how much or how little experience you have. As I had no experience at the time then that welcoming experience made it really easy for me to learn and bed into the station and I’m grateful for the time everyone has put in to help me along the way.

Tell us something interesting about you?

I once held a Guinness World Record for playing in the longest ever football match, it’s since been beaten a couple of times but I have the certificate and scars to prove it.
