Which show(s) do you host?
I present DJ Shazzy’s Afternoon Mix every Tuesday afternoon between 12 noon and 3pm. It’s a fabulous mix of hits to get you through Tuesday afternoon.
What is your background?
Before joining Radio Warrington I presented a Best of British show on a station in Northwich for two years where I also sat in for other presenters who were on holiday.
Why is music your passion?
Music is a huge part of my life. I always used to pretend I had my own radio station as a kid and used to record my own little radio shows on my cassette player (remember them?). I even used to get my friends to pretend they were famous celebrities and did pretend interviews with them. My favourite memories are travelling in the car with my parents listening to our own mix tapes. Its thanks to my parents that I love music from the 50s right up to the early 00s. Despite being born in 1980, I really love music from the 70s. It was an amazing decade for music with such a wide range of genres like disco, rock, pop and of course glam rock. I also love the 80s, again for its variety of rock, pop and electro.
Why Radio Warrington?
I live in Runcorn so Warrington is very local to me. There’s a lot going on in the town and I especially look forward to keeping listeners informed of upcoming performances at the Parr Hall and the Brindley. We are so lucky to have these theatres on our doorstep!
Tell us something interesting about you?
I’m a bit of a dungarees and Dr Martens addict. I’ve lost count of how many I have but I can’t help myself and I’m constantly buying second hand dungarees and DMs online. I just love quirky clothes and I’m at my happiest in dungarees and boots.
